Visit to Turkmenistan – expansion of cooperation with the railways of the CIS countries


In order to expand cooperation with the railways of the CIS countries, from October 26 to November 2, 2022, a delegation of the Belarusian State University of Transport headed by Vice-Rector for Science Work Erofeev Alexander Alexandrovich visited Turkmenistan.

During the visit, the delegation held meetings with the management of Demirýollary OJSC represented by B.A. Saryev and Khudaiberdyev A.N and also with representatives of the carriage service and the signalling and communication service. The delegation also visited a car repair plant in Serdar, a passenger car depot and a locomotive depot in Ashgabat.

During the visit, the issues of extending the service life of the rolling stock of the railways of Turkmenistan were discussed; organization of repair production of bogies and freight cars with subsequent extension of service life and certification; operation of MPC and DC systems manufactured by enterprises of the Republic of Belarus at the range of railways of Turkmenistan; conducting training for students, undergraduates and graduate students at the Belarusian State University of Transport; advanced training of Turkmen specialists at our university and a number of other topical issues on which joint cooperation of the parties is possible.

In addition, during an informal stop, a meeting was held with representatives of the Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics of Turkmenistan. During this meeting the parties exchanged views on the development of the transport industry and discussed issues of further cooperation in the field of education and scientific activities.

As a result of the visit, a cooperation agreement was signed. This agreement is a roadmap for organizing further phased work, as well as contracts for carrying out work on technical diagnostics and extending the service life of freight cars and examining the production base of the Serdar car repair plant.
