INTERNATIONAL ENGINEERING MECHANICS CONTEST REGULATIONS

INTRODUCTION

  1. Contest is public and open for the students from the CIS countries and abroad.
  2. Contest consists of two parts:
  • Theory Contest – results are summed up in the individual  and team events;
  • "Brain-ring" Team Contest – short task solutions.

CONTEST PROCEDURE

Day 1

  1. Contest Opening.
  2. Theory contest (4 hours). Students are set with 8 problems : 2 – statics, 2 – kinematics and 4 – dynamics.
  3. All the papers are code numbered and checked. Preliminary results are summed up.

Day 2

  1. "Brain-ring" Team Contest (60 minutes). Tasks include 30 short problems: 10 for each – statics, kinematics and dynamics.
  2. After the "Brain-ring" Team Contest the Theory Contest problem solutions are discussed and the appeals of preliminary results are given and heard.

Day 3

  1. Contest Summing up, Contest Winners’ Awarding and Closing of the Contest.

STUDENTS AND SUPERVISORS’ PARTICIPATION

  1. Students of the first-forth year of education are to take part in the Contest. Students of the fifth-sixth year of education can participate in the Contesthors concours.
  2. In Theory Contest a University can be represented by one teamof three-six students of the first-fourth year of education.Other students can participate in the Individual Events.
  3. In case a University is represented by one or two participants these students can take part in Theory Contest Individual and Team Events. As an exception and under the Panel of Judges’ Agreement if there are students from several Universities representing one region can be put together and form one united team.
  4. Theory Contest results in the Individual Events are assessed by summing up the participants’ points. In case of equality of the participants having shown three best results the priority is to the onewho:
    • has the best result on problem full points;
    • has the highest points on the concrete individual problems.

The rest of the participants with equal points get the equal places.

  1. Theory Contest results in team events are assessed by summing up three best points of team participants.
  2. In "Brain-ring" Team Contest a University can be represented by one or two teams up tothree students.Other students from the team can take part in this Contest hors concours.
  3. "Brain-ring" Team Contest results are assessed by the number of correctly solved problems. In case of having several teams with equal results the winner is the team with the best effective time.
  4. Contest Diplomas are awarded to 6 best teams and 10 winners in the Individual Events andalso 6 best teams in "Brain-ring" Team Contest.
  5. Supervisors act as a Panel of Judges that controls and checks on problem solutions.
