Opening of the IV International scientific and practical conference «Water Supply, Chemistry and Applied Ecology»

The conference is timed to coincide with World Water Resources Day, which was established by Resolution No. A/RES/47/193 of the UN General Assembly in 1993. In 2024, it is dedicated to the theme «WATER FOR PEACE».

The organizers of the conference were:

• Belarusian State University of Transport.
• The state enterprise «GOMELVODOKANAL».
• GEFLIS LLC.
• Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Belarusian State University of Transport.
• The Department of «Water Supply, Chemistry and Ecology» of the Construction Faculty of the Belarusian State University of Transport.

At the opening of the conference, the following speakers:

Kudina Elena Fedorovna (Head of the Department of «Water Supply, Chemistry and Ecology», Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor) outlined the role of the department in training specialists in the specialty «Water supply, sanitation and protection of water resources» with modern knowledge on the use of chemical and biological methods of water purification, told about the extensive scientific and publication activities of the department staff.

Erofeev Alexander Alexandrovich, Vice-rector for Scientific Work, Ph.D., Associate professor, noted that such an international event serves to popularize innovations in the field of water supply to settlements and enterprises. The conference brought together researchers and practitioners from different countries and universities, including Belarus and Russia. 66 reports were presented at the conference, the authors of which are more than 100 participants, which indicates the recognition and significance of the event.

Pyotr Anatolyevich Zholudev, Deputy Director for Design and Capital Construction of the State Enterprise GOMELVODOKANAL, welcomed the participants of the conference. Peter Anatolyevich noted the importance of the event. The importance of the conference dedicated to the problems of water and water resources undoubtedly increases if we take into account the current problems of water on Earth: lack of clean drinking water, environmental problems, pollution of reservoirs, etc. It is necessary to draw the attention of the general public, specialists in the field of water treatment, engineering and technical workers to the existing problems.

Water is our life and health! Take care of the water, without it there is no life on Earth.

The conference aroused great interest among the assembled audience. The new information and data received led to reflections, new ideas and suggestions.
